in the south bay. sergio has a look at the celebrations in san jose. reporter: there are plenty of people packed into the britannia arms near downtown san jose and the game has just resumed so the energy is picking up. of course, this has been a game full of high points and low points for 49ers fans tonight. >> south bay fans are cheering just as loud as fans in san francisco. nearly everyone here is hoping to be part of the super bowl win. the big game is only part of the fun. super bowl sunday is also about being with friends, having a few beers and enjoying bar food. most of the groups here are groups of friends and also a few families cheering on then 49ers. >> i'm excited. excitement, a little buzz. chasing my son all over britannia arms. >> now, as he mentioned there has been quite a few sections where the fans have had mixed reactions and have been pretty subdued. especially in the first half. the hopes are that the 49ers are going to come back in the second half. hopefully be able to hear the cheers coming from san jose, reporting live, sergio quintana, abc7 news. >> dan: an updat
's chinese new year's parade. sergio quintana is live on market street where things are just kicking off. reporter: we are just minutes from the official start of the parade, and we are yards from where the whole parade comes together. you can see everybody lined up here to watch it as it starts. now, each year more than 100 groups come together to participate. among the stars are the floats, just before each parade they're lined up as they're staging -- at their staging area to make sure the details are in place. also a temporary gallery for people to snap pictures of the floats before they hilt the road. the san francisco chinese lunar new year parade is one of the largest celebrations in the world. it's a speck tack cal, specially for those who have never seen it before. >> what's the plan? >> watch the parade, and then eat some long noodles. reporter: now, one of my favorite parts of the parade are the marching bands. this is the bay area boy scouts drum and bugle corps warming up to join the parade. they're amongst several marching bands from bay area organizations and schools will

to the south bay folks there have new reason to root for the home team, and they did this evening. sergio is live with that part of our coverage. sergio? >> reporter: dan, it is clear that the san jose fans cheered just about as loud as their san francisco counterparts. but check it out. downtown san jose tonight very quiet. of course as this game came to a close there are a lot of disappointed 49er fans who quietly went home. the fans got to watch a great game unfold. lots at the brittain yaw arms in downtown san jose and they had to hold their faces in disbelief during the first half of their game. when the lights came back on, this place was electric, especially as quarterback colin kaepernick ran the ball in for a touchdown. and for the rest of the game it was a screen set as the 49ers clawed their way back to within just a few points from a win. in the end these fans and the rest of the 49er faithful saw this game come to a disappointing conclusion. >> it was a really great game. we did have a chance and unfortunately we can accomplish a lot. >> i think we could have done better, but

this afternoon. sergio equip tan na talked to witnesses and has the story. reporter: this is cell phone video of the helicopter dispatched to airlift a man after he was pulled from the surf at the beach. the photographer said surfers came to the map's rescue. >> three people surfing there, and one guy calling for help. reporter: witnesses say the surfers pulled the man out of the water ask then started yelling for home. some people on the beach pitched in. in that group were two people, doctor and a nurse, and they quickly started administering cpr in this picture shot by another person at the beach you can see a huld of people around the map in distress. according to the marin county fire department he may have suffered a heard attack in the water. quick action by the surfers saved his life and also the doctor and nurse were in the right place in the right time. >> the man and woman doing cpr, and the guy, they call him, dave, dave, and he start breathe. but -- okay. >> authorities did not release the identities of the good samaritans, same for the man who was pulled from the water. he was a

in san francisco. sergio quintana is live with those details. >> the bus involved in this was actually driven off. the number 18 bus happened to be turning the corner. you can see right there, those are the flares that mark just about the area where the victim was hit by the bus. now, i did speak very briefly with the son-in-law of the victim. she is a 73-year-old woman who was hit. the son-in-law and his wife, the daughter of the victim, happened to be driving by and noticed lots of emergency vehicles here, and noticed the woman, the 73-year-old, who was pretty bloodied, and was surrounded by emergency crews, she was transported to san francisco general hospital. she is still alive. now, you can see there are still investigators from muni who are here on scene. i'm being told that they are still questioning the bus driver as is part of the standard procedure in these investigations and will be tested for being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, a standard part of the investigation. muni says they're still trying to piece together how this happened. reportin
. both happened in san francisco's mission district in january and early february. sergio quintana is live with new details. reporter: well, san francisco police put out an advisory because they've linked two assaults to a similar suspect here on women in the mission. they're hoping that anyone who recognizes the suspect will call investigators with information. now, here are two sketches put out by the police. the one on the left is based on the description of a woman who was attacked two weeks ago. the one of the right is based on the description of a woman attacked just blocks away on january 6th. the most recent attack was february 2nd, around 1:00 a.m. here on bartlet street. the victim of that attack told police she passed a man on the sidewalk, and he suddenly began punching her. when she covered her face to protect herself, the man ran off. the first incident happened nearly a month earlier on 23rd 23rd and church street in that incident the victim sass the map lunged at her and threw her on the ground, straddled her and then began bashing her head into the sidewalk. she ma
